“Sitting quietly off Buchanan Street, the Bier Halle is easy enough to miss. Still, descend its dark stark stairwell and it soon reveals itself like some secret underground bunker, bustling with stylish professionals and students. As hinted at tin the name, the Bier Halle takes its inspiration from eastern European beer halls, offering an extensive array of ‘biers’, both bottled and draught, including frequent guests from all over the world. Another, perhaps even the main draw here though is, of course, the food. The menu offers well-thought-out bar snacks – bratwurst hot dogs, tapas and a variety of home-made soups and ciabatta sandwiches – the the ever-popular ’2-4-1′ pizzas leading the charge. Substantial in size, these crackling, thin bases are piled with juicy fresh toppings – everything from barbecue meatballs to Stornoway black pudding – making their already reasonable price tag seem like one hell of a bargain.”
